CHANNTEL

Age: 18, innit? But she's been 18 for years to get into pubs

Height: 5'5", but 5'7" in her Burberry cap and Lacoste trainers

Star sign: Taurus (bullish, stubborn, gets what she wants)

Subject: Fashion - she already makes loads of her own clothes

On the stereo: Girls Aloud, 'Chemistry'

On the back: fake Versace plunge corset from down the market

In the fridge: Red Bull

On the plate: sausage and mash with Angel Delight for pudding

On the road: nah, she takes the train 'cause there are always fit blokes on it

On holiday: Malaga, or wherever in Spain has the best deal

On the doormat: The Sun, The Star, Heat, Love It!

Hobbies: watching Engerland on the telly, shopping, dancing in clubs

Part-time job: Selling home-made clothes, hairbands, fluffy legwarmers and scrunchies to other students

Her take on the year: It's been pukka! I've made loads of ace mates I'd never have met otherwise, and had some great nights out

What's your favourite part of uni life? I love going out, I am the dancing queeeen!

And the worst? The early mornings. Sometimes I sit at the back in lectures and sleep.

What have you missed most? Not much as I still living with the folks.

What has been the greatest surprise? How mingin' I feel the day after a late night, especially if I have to scrape myself off the floor and go to a tutorial.

How have you coped with money? I'm quite minted, due to my own label, Channtel's Charms. Loads of people have bought my stuff as it's cheap and looks wicked.

Top financial tip? Make and sell your own stuff. You'll have a laugh doing it, and feel proud of your earnings.

Budget

Household income: £24,000

Income

Channtel gets a grant worth £1,617 a year, which she doesn't have to pay back. She can't borrow as much because she is living at home, so her loan is £1,885 per year, but she does get a £1000 bursary. She earns £150 a month from Channtel's charms so thanks to her enterprising nature, she can afford the night outs.

Expenditure

Although Channtel saves money by living at home, she has to pay daily travel to get to campus. She spends £3600 in total per year.

Repayment

If Channtel got a job earning £22,000 per year after her degree, she would pay her loan back at a rate of £52 per month. So her degree would cost her about the same per month as her precious mobile phone!
